We are excited to report that the first entry in Salla Simukka’s Snow White Trilogy, As Red as Blood, (Punainen kuin veri, Tammi 2013) has received its second starred review in the U.S prior to its August release by Amazon Publishing/Skyscape. Esteemed literary publication Kirkus Reviews, originally established in the 1930s, praises the book in its July 15th issue:
“This trilogy opener from a talented young author has a bracing energy that stands up to the most muscular of Scandinavian thrillers and a heroine more than equal to her competition…Fairy tales, like mysteries, present uncompromising moral imperatives—no soft, comforting shades of gray for even the youngest readers. This summer the book will also be published by Mondadori in Italy as Rosso il sangue. Popular Italian fantasy and mystery writer Barbara Baraldi recently raved about it on her blog:

In France, Hachette Livre will publish As Red as Blood (Je m’appelle Lumikki I) in November simultaneously in the YA and adult markets, under the imprints Hachette Black Moon and Livre de Poche Editions.
The Snow White Trilogy has been sold in 43 territories to date. As Red As Blood has thus far been published in Belgium and the Netherlands by Clavis, in the Czech Republic by Egmont, in Estonia by Pegasus, in Greece by Metaichmio, in Hungary by Athenaeum, in Lithuania by Alma Littera, in Norway by Gyldendal, in Poland by Foksal and in Romania by Trei.
