We are thrilled to announce two new pre-publication deals for MILO, the new standalone crime novel by star author Max Seeck! The French rights have been acquired by Mera éditions in a deal closed by Elina Ahlbäck at Elina Ahlbäck Literary Agency. And the Norwegian rights have been acquired by Aschehoug in a deal closed by Anna Kappauf at Elina Ahlbäck Literary Agency.
Mera éditions was founded at the beginning of 2022 and is dedicated to introducing international thrillers to a French audience. They publish internationally bestselling authors like Antonio Lanzetta, Andrea Mara. and Vish Dhamija.
Aschehoug, founded in 1872, is one of Norway’s leading publishing house and home to bestselling crime authors like Jo Nesbø, Hjorth & Rosenfeldt, and of course, Max Seeck!
Max Seeck won the prestigious Glass Key Award 2023 for his crime novel THE LAST GRUDGE (orig. Kauna, Tammi 2021), which is part of the Jessica Niemi crime series that has sold into 40 territories and Hollywood: an international TV-show is in developement. Over 400,000 copies of his books have been sold in Finland alone.
About the book:
Milo, a 38-year-old art enthusiast and criminal profiler struggles with sexual frustration. A body of a young woman is found painted in all-white representing a piece of chess. The chief inspector receives an anonymous letter with a short message: dxe5. This indicates a chess move and along the location where the body was found the investigators feel that more chess moves might be on the way.
MILO will be published in Finland by Tammi in September 2024. The German rights have previously been sold to Bastei Lübbe. There is also strong film & TV interest for MILO – watch this space for more on this soon!
