Ahlback Agency Now Represents the Best of Finnish Screenwriting Talent

Finland’s number one literary agency strengthens its Film & TV talent representation, starting in early 2025.

One of the leading literary agencies in the Nordics, the Elina Ahlbäck Literary Agency (Ahlback Agency) is expanding its scope to include Finnish screenwriters and directors. Beginning in early 2025, the agency will represent Finnish film and TV screenwriters, as well as directors, and actively market their talents. Driven by passion, commitment, and vision, Ahlback Agency aims to bring the very best of Finnish content creation to the global stage.

CEO Elina Ahlbäck highlights the growing demand for original, unique, and universal Finnish stories: “Finnish films and screenplays have already begun their global breakthrough, and we believe now is the perfect time to showcase the remarkable talents of Finnish screenwriters and directors. The agency has already attracted a roster of critically acclaimed and successful screenwriters, including Ilona Ahti, Daniela Hakulinen, Miro Laiho, Kati Royle, Miia Tervo ja Jenni Toivoniemi. “We believe Finnish creators possess world-class expertise, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Ahlback Agency,” Ahti and Hakulinen expressed.

Ahlback Agency has closed film and tv rights’ deals for 20 Finnish authors over the past eight years.  The Agency has successfully negotiated Hollywood rights with Stampede Ventures for New York Times bestselling author Max Seeck’s The Witch Hunter, and the international TV adaptation rights for Martta Kaukonen’s internationally acclaimed bestseller Follow the Butterfly with Legendary Entertainment/Tobis.

Seasoned concept developer Kati Royle believes it is the perfect time for Finnish creators to showcase their expertise on an international level. With a background as a screenwriting consultant and executive story editor in the TV and film industry, Royle is enthusiastic about the new opportunities: “It’s fantastic that Ahlback Agency is now promoting Finnish screenwriting expertise through a focused internationalization effort. Ahlback Agency has also bolstered its film and TV business with the addition of two seasoned industry professionals. Martti Berner, a versatile sales and marketing expert with extensive experience in the film industry, has joined the agency as Sales Lead & Agent. Anna Lujanen, a long-time industry professional with a distinguished career in film, and currently the head of Screenforce Finland, has joined the company’s board. Lujanen also serves as vice president of the Global TV Group.
