A disappearance turns into a serial murder investigation.
A hysterical mother arrives to the police station saying that her 13-year-old daughter Laura has disappeared. Detective Linda Toivonen manages to get the mother to calm down. Evening arrives and the girl has not been found nor reached with phone. The next morning suspicions arise that something might have happened to the girl.
At first, the case is investigated as a disappearance. However, it soon becomes clear that Laura lived a double life on the internet, having relationships with older men. Her body is found by the river, tangled with a lamprey trap, and the investigation turns into a murder investigation. Linda goes through disappearance cases of youth throughout Finland and discovers similarities. Suspicions arise that a serial killer has been on the loose for years, preying on young girls. Linda, who herself was abused in her youth, realizes that her daughter – who attends the same school the victim did – could be the next victim.
Will one pass their own mistakes onward to the next generation?
The "River Delta series" is certainly one of the most interesting European crime series at the moment
